College Transfer Events

Please check this page often for links to events that are happening at some of North Carolina’s four-year institutions!

  • Transfer applications open August 1 for the Spring, Summer and Fall 2024 terms. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis for all terms starting in September. Students are encouraged to submit their application prior to the application deadline dates listed below and should complete by the priority application dates if they plan to pursue scholarships (Fall/Summer applicants) and to allow adequate time to find and secure housing (all terms).

  • Feb 1: Fall/Summer Priority Admission Application date
    * for access to scholarships and to allow adequate time to find and secure housing
  • March 1: Transfer Scholarship Application deadline
    * Admission Application must be completed by Feb 15 for scholarship consideration
  • April 1: Fall/Summer Admission Application deadline

Applications submitted after December 15 (Spring) / April 1 (Fall/Summer) - for Boone, Hickory and online - will be reviewed on a space available basis.

Virtual Transfer Information Sessions

Transfer students can take advantage of the 30-minute Q&A session to learn more about the academic programs, application process, financial aid & scholarships, and much more.

Transfer Campus Tours

Join fellow transfer students for an hour and a half walking tour around the ECU campus. Student tour guides will show you around the campus and share what it’s like to be a Pirate. Social distancing and masks will be required inside buildings, and other safety measures will be in place.

ECU Partnership Teach

Partnership Teach is East Carolina University’s online degree completion model for education majors who wish to begin at an NC community college and transfer to ECU to complete one of the three teaching degrees:

Elementary Education (K-6)
Special Education (K-12)
Middle Grades Education (Language Arts & Social Studies (6-9)

ECU Pirate Promise

Information sessions are available for students enrolled in the Pirate Promise program.  The Pirate Promise program is a guaranteed admission program for students who are in their first year of coursework at WCC to attend special events, benefit from advising assistance, and receive support before applying to ECU.

Amariche Hawkins, Fayetteville State University representative, will be visiting campus on March 13 & Apr. 24 from 11am-1pm. He will be located upstairs in Building C in the alcove near the elevator on both days. NCSU Community College Collaboration (C3)

  • C3 Application (New C3 Students) – opens February 1st and closes June 1st; Decisions are released on a modified rolling basis (March 1, April 1, May 1, and June 15)

C3 Prospective Student Powerpoint Presentation

Comprehensive student development program designed to develop scholars into leaders within the STEM and/or education fields.  The NC State Goodnight Scholars Program opens new window is expanding to include a cohort of 50 transfer students from community colleges throughout North Carolina.  The Goodnight Transfer Scholars Program is designed to offer a full-tuition scholarship, valued at $22,000 per year to underrepresented students.  To be considered to receive an invitation to apply as a transfer student, a student must:

  • Submit the general NC State application by February 15, 2023.
  • Indicate a family income of less than $120,000 on the general NC State application.
  • Select a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) or STEM education major at NC State (eligible majors opens new window).
  • Enroll as a full-time student at NC State.
  • Be a North Carolina resident. Refugee, DACA, and undocumented students who are living in North Carolina and will graduate from a North Carolina community college are also eligible for this scholarship.
  • Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens new window by March 1, 2023.
  • Obtain an associate degree (A.A., A.S., or A.E.) from a North Carolina community college under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement opens new window by fall 2023.
  • Demonstrate a history of outstanding academic performance.

Spring 2024—November 15
Summer (1st)—May 1 (term begins May 2024)
Summer (2nd) —June 1 (term begins June 2024)

Transfer students are encouraged to apply before the priority deadline to ensure that your application is reviewed by the desired term.  Priority deadlines for each term is listed below.

Spring
Transfer students can apply to enter UNC-W in the spring semester. Entry in the spring term is not more competitive, but space is limited so students are encouraged to apply early and adhere to the following deadlines:

  • Application Submission: October 15
  • Application Completion: November 1
  • Enrollment Deposit: December 1

Summer
Priority Deadline: March 1
Final Deadline: May 1

Fall
Priority Deadline: March 1
Final Deadline: June 1

Application fee waivers are offered for students with demonstrated financial need, active-duty military service, or Phi Theta Kappa membership.

Students are encouraged to apply early when possible. Transfer applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so students can expect to receive their decision 3-4 weeks after their application is completed.
