Wilson Community College is gearing up for registration again, and we have options for anyone who wants to learn new skills, earn a degree, or do something new. Maybe you haven’t had an opportunity to start college and now you’re ready to get started. You don’t have to wait. Or maybe you work full-time and want to go back to school and retrain for a career change. Regardless of your motivations, it’s never too late — or too early — to get started. Students always have a starting point at WCC.
During each fall and spring semester, WCC offers “mini-semesters” that are eight weeks long, but offer the same credits as a full semester. This can be a good option for students who want to complete a prerequisite course this fall to be able to take a higher-level course in the spring. Students in these courses don’t have to do twice as much work, but they have to accomplish the same amount of work as a full semester course in half the time. Our next 8-week session starts October 18 and runs through December 14.
Our Winter Term offers 30 courses that are only five weeks long and are all completely online. Winter session classes will run from December 1 to January 3. WCC started offering winter term courses three years ago to serve students who might need additional classes that could be completed over a winter break. Since then, we have doubled the course offerings and enrollment for the Winter Term. These courses are perfect for students who want to earn additional credit before the start of the regular Spring semester or those home from other colleges and universities for the holidays. There are classes in business, English, math, psychology, communications, history, and Spanish, just to name a few, and students can take up to two classes during the session. Just keep in mind that visiting students taking Winter semester courses are classified as special credit (non-degree seeking), so financial aid may not apply.
And we’re also ready to meet with students to begin planning out their Spring semester now too. It may seem a little early to start thinking about getting enrolled for January, but the admissions and financial aid processes take time, so starting now will help ensure that everything is complete and in place. Registering early is also the best way to get into classes that are in high demand. These classes start January 6.
So, whether you are a current student, a new, first-time student, or you’re coming from another college or university, we are here to help you navigate the admissions and registration process. We offer convenient online tuition and fee payment options, and financial aid is available for eligible students. Feel free to contact a staff member in Admissions or the Financial Aid Office for more information. We are always here to help!
Registration for the next eight-week session begins October 13. Registration for Winter Session and Spring semester early registration starts November 7. Visit the Apply Now page for a step-by-step guide on the admissions process.
